Price: £8.00
A day's events in the life of a fictitious family working aboard a horse-drawn narrow boat from north of Leicester to Trent Lock at the junction of the Trent and Mersey Canal and the Erewash Canal. Their route takes them along the canalised River Soar through Loughborough and Kegworth. The situations, locations and other personnel are recorded from factual research.
The narrative is based around the life and thoughts of young Joe, a teenager aboard his family's boat, "Kingfisher".
A full description is given of the complicated procedures taken through the passage of Barrow Deep Lock and re-entry of the canal to the navigable river to pass under the road bridge without the assistance of the towing horse.
