This presentation is a sequel to "Loughborough Wharf and Charlie Lewis, a BWB employee 1956-1994", which briefly describes a history of the original terminus to the Loughborough Canal (built some years prior to the Leicester Line) utilising the River Soar, its cargoes and the workers' wharf-side cottages, etc.

A threat of closure by an impending bypass in the mid 1990s led to a subsequent campaign, supported by annual boating rallies, making a significant effort to retain that historical site.
