The original title of Leicester's Clock Tower was "The Haymarket Memorial Clock Tower". It is a well-known landmark and meeting place in a busy city.
Now standing amid an oasis of calm, it was once the scene of traffic chaos and danger for pedestrians at the meeting point of five roads as horses and carts tried to cross a busy junction in Victorian Leicester.
Four statues of Leicester benefactors stand surrounding the tower but the choices provided controversy from its start.
